Today, we’re featuring a beautiful portrait series from Lance James Daniels, captured on b&w film with the last few rays of light on a beach in Cape Town. Here is more from Lance about creating these images…
I met up with Shana at a Cape Town beach one unexpectedly warm evening in May. We were chasing the last of the light for the day. The last of the sun for the season.
It was already the tail end of autumn, but every once in a while the “Mother City” bestows upon us a beautifully balmy day long after summer has officially left us. We grabbed this gift with open arms, with the only real goal of enjoying the process of capturing some moments on film.
A photographer friend once told me that whenever she and her subjects already had a good rapport, the pressure was lifted and the photos kind of just took themselves. In no time at all, I had nearly finished my roll of film. “Shit, only one frame left!” Not to worry. Trust the process. Enjoy the sun. Snap.
