Our latest feature is a travel story capturing the magical beachside town of Mazunte, Oaxaca from film photographer Carolina Nobile. Here is more from Carolina about her love of Mazunte…
Most people I know think that Mexico’s most spectacular beaches are in the Caribbean. I disagree, I must confess that I’m a fan of the Pacific Coast, where you can find small laid back little beach towns with rough landscapes and gorgeous beaches, wild waves and heartbreaking sunsets.
I traveled to Mazunte for the first time in 2019, and fell in love with its quiet, peaceful vibes and excellent food. Since then, I went back two more times, and, in my last visit, I realized that Mazunte was changing. There was more tourism, more cars, construction works. It was noisier and more crowded than it used to be… I couldn’t help feeling a little bit nostalgic and with a tender sense of paradise loss. So I did the only thing that could guarantee me to stop time and freeze Mazunte as I knew it once: taking pictures.
