Today, we’re featuring a Polaroid travel story from film photographer Mallory Brooks. Here is more from Mallory about capturing her trip to Oaxaca, Mexico on Polaroid film…
I’m a fine art photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. I recently traveled to the colorful locale of Oaxaca, Mexico with my vintage SX-70 Polaroid One Step Plus camera. As I usually already have too many cameras with me, I don’t typically take my Polaroid traveling. But I’ve been inspired by friends shooting their own Polaroid cameras and decided that this was a great opportunity to play with mine. I’m so glad I did, as Oaxaca’s sunshine, vibrant colors, and many textures made a perfect match with the SX-70 film. I think my Polaroid camera will be tagging along on my travels from now on!

A gorgeous collection which showcases precisely that you don’t need to be shooting on the highest end equipment to get glorious shots. Thanks for sharing Mallory!

Instant cameras and film may produce photos with a certain charm, which is apparent in several of the images here. I certainly wouldn’t rely on them as my sole means of photographing for travel. I’d want most of my photos not to be blurry. Just my old-guy preference.
