Our latest feature is a wonderful African safari photo series from film photographer Lance James Daniels. Here is more from Lance about visiting Kruger National Park…
These photos are from a safari my wife and I went on in Kruger National Park, South Africa’s largest game reserve, which is about a 5-hour drive from Johannesburg. It was my first attempt at capturing wildlife on film, which proved to be a unique, but rewarding, challenge.
Over a ten day period we balanced self-drive day trips with guided drives and walks and covered most of Kruger’s central and southern regions (fun fact: the park is actually bigger than Wales!). While the bush walks allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in nature, most of my photos were taken on our drives, where you have plenty of time to sit, observe, and wait for a pleasing composition to present itself to you.
Despite the difficulty of photographing wild animals on film, I managed to snag a few shots that I’m quite chuffed with.
