Today, we’re featuring a beautiful double exposure series from Autumn Kovach. Here is more from Autumn about capturing the Oregon Coast on film…
As I planned my trip for June 2026 for the Oregon Coast, I knew I wanted to try something different in my photography process this time. Travel photography was getting a little redundant for me, and capturing lines/shadows/textures felt a little repetitive, even though I do my best to switch up my vacation geography.
Since I was planning to spend half my time in the city of Portland and the rest driving along the coast through Astoria, Cannon Beach and Pacific City, I thought, why not layer these two vibes together and capture both in one on a double exposure roll. It’d be a fun summary of my summer trip, present the challenge I needed and maybe offer some delightful surprises in the development when I got home.
While not all 36 shots were winners, I was left with a perfect encapsulation of the PNW and definitely a dose of magic that I needed to do it again next time!
