This week, we’re featuring a beautiful photo series from film photographer Julia Marcinkowska. Julia captured the stunning landscapes from her home in Scotland. Here is more from Julia about her love of Scotland…
I moved to Scotland in 2017 and immediately fell in love with the scenery there. I seized every opportunity to travel outside the city and admire those magical landscapes and old castle ruins. Most of my trips were to Stoneheaven and the neighboring Dunnotar Castle, but the pictures also include Loch Ness, where I traveled once in between lockdowns. The photos are from years 2017-2020.
I picked up film photography for fun in 2016, and although I always try to teach myself more about how to take good pictures, I view myself as an amateur. My goal is to capture memories of my everyday life, and Scotland is a big part of my early 20s, which is why I cherish those photos so much.
Analog cameras and films used: Canon AE-1 (Find at KEH Camera or on eBay) | Kodak Portra 400 (Find on Amazon)
