This week, we’re featuring a beautiful Scotland travel story from film and travel photographer Robyn Davis. Robyn brought to life the serene and moody landscapes of the Scottish countryside with her 35mm film camera. Here’s more from Robyn about her love of Scotland…
Scotland is, by far, my favorite road trip destination, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s not a destination that sings and shouts to grab your attention. The clumps of heather and lochs filled with turquoise water exist quietly; the snow topped mountains and dark forests need no fanfare. The people are kind, the landscape is generous, and every adventure spent in Scotland is an honest and uncomplicated one.
The Highlands, in particular, hold a special kind of magic. Caught on the wrong day, the weather is unforgiving and the icy winds can be cruel, but when in a good mood, you’re rewarded with sunsets that stretch into the night and scenery like no other. For those reasons, it’s always a privilege to capture some of the magic on 35mm. Here’s to the next roadtrip…

Fantastic set of images. Did you push those rolls of Portra 400? The increased contrast over what that stock normally provides looks great if, in fact, you did.

Hello! Thank you so much, very kind. I didn’t push these rolls, I got very lucky with the light levels in Scotland – the bath shot is thanks to a massive window out of shot! Robyn
