Today, we’re featuring a series from film photographer Jean-Christophe Villefranche. Here is more from Jean-Christophe about his Secret Summer series…

We are living on a French island, which is quiet all year long, but very crowded in the summertime. Hopefully, we can find quiet uncrowded beaches not far from home. Here some pictures I made with my wife and son on a nice summer day during a day off.

Analog cameras and films used: Minolta XD-7 (Find at KEH Camera or on eBay) | Kodak Gold 200 (Find on Amazon)

I’m sorry to say this, but I find the light streaks in the photos to be a distraction. It indicates to me that the camera’s foam has deteriorated with age and is allowing light to ingress into the film area, causing the light streaking. Maybe I’m just ‘old school’, where the presence of light streaking in a photo meant it went straight into the bin. There are some good double-exposure photographs by Jean-Christophe here that, to me anyway, are ruined by the light streaking. I feel Jean-Christophe should get the foam on his Minolta XD-7 replaced.
