Today, we’re featuring a Venice Beach travel story and Super 8 video from film photographer Gareth Morton. Venice Beach is full of life and sunshine with a personality that is undeniably Californian. Gareth captured every bit of Venice Beach’s character in his images and brought out those bold California colors with the perfect film stock, Kodak Ektar. Here are a few words from Gareth about his time in Venice Beach…
It was a dream of mine to visit the West Coast, particularly Southern California, ever since seeing it in the movies. It just seemed magical. I was fortunate enough to stay a couple of blocks from Venice beach with a friend of a friend (Thanks, Sarah and Lori), so I could walk down and just hang out near the famous basketball courts and skate park. Those, combined with the surfing and the light, are the things which said Venice Beach to me, so I think this selection of photographs encompasses all of that.
