Waterfall Hike Photo Series by Kate Bunting

Our latest feature is a photo series from film photographer Kate Bunting. Here is more from Kate about photographing one of the biggest waterfalls in North Georgia…

My friends and I were planning a day trip to hike to one of the biggest waterfalls in the area, which felt like the perfect opportunity to try out some Fujicolor 100. I had never shot this stock before, but I knew that Fuji is known for really nice greens, and I knew there would be a lot of trees on the hike so it seemed like a good time to test it out.

The waterfall is located on a land trust, so we hopped in the car and set out for our little adventure. The hike is about five miles round trip, and they only allow so many reservations in for the day so it wasn’t too crowded. It was hot, but enjoyable. The trail took us up to some nice overlooks before heading down to the waterfall. The land trust is located in North Georgia, near Chattanooga which is a relatively rocky and hilly area. The most challenging part of the hike was the descent down to the waterfall and then back up that same incline. It was a really fun experience, and I love how the photos turned out. Those Fuji greens really do pop! Definitely a good film stock to take with you on a nice sunny hike.
