Today, we’re featuring a Budapest photo story from film photographer Zoltan Andras Kovacs. Here is more from Zoltan about capturing his hometown on film…
These images were all taken in Budapest on two beautiful August days. Every time I pick up my camera, I get to be a tourist in my own city, discovering its charm all over again.
On these particular days, I found myself drawn to the city’s stunning façades and iconic trams, including a vintage one that caught my eye. I also captured some heartfelt moments – friends enjoying a summer walk, family sharing lunch, and couples and friends watching the sunset by the Danube.
The photos were captured with my very first analog camera, a reusable AgfaPhoto. With its fixed focus and plastic lens, the possibilities are limited, but that’s exactly what makes it special. It requires much more careful planning to convey the mood I want to capture. These images are only from my third roll of film, ever.
I plan to continue using this camera for a long time because, alongside the Agfa APX 100 and Kodak ColorPlus 200 rolls I’ve used before, there are still many other film rolls I want to try.
