Our latest feature is a beautiful Crete travel story from Valeriia and Xavier. Here is more from Valeriia and Xavier about their time in the Greek islands…
It was our first “film only” experience, a real challenge, but we are both very happy with the results. Crete is an incredibly inspiring place. There we could finally rest after several exhausting months due to the war in Ukraine (Valeriia is Ukrainian). Even though we are experienced travelers and have had our share of beauty over the last years, Crete definitely took a special place in our hearts and made us reconsider some of our values and visions for the future.

Nice shots. I too use the FM2 and its siblings. I’d like to ask: what advantages were there to shooting film rather than digital on this trip, and was it difficult carrying film through airports? Thanks.

Hey Gary and thank you for your comment!
We had two reasons to try the “film only” trip.
The first one is very trivial – we wanted a small camera for the trip on a scooter and our digital Nikon with its lens is way too heavy. The second one was challenging ourselves in terms of photo. We wanted to be more mindful about what we choose to shoot and not to fall into endless clicking the way we normally do. At the end we are happy with the result! We saved hours on selecting and editing pictures 🙂
Nobody said a word in the airports, neither in France nor on Crete!
