I never travel without a camera, using it to crystallize unique moments and atmospheres I don’t want to forget. Fascinated by the ritual and unpredictability of shooting on film, I am especially drawn to black and white for its simplicity and the subtle sense of nostalgia it evokes.
This series unfolds as a dialogue between black and white film and the striking tones of Harman Red, two distinct voices through which the Aeolian Islands reveal themselves. The black and white images capture the timeless and contemplative side of the landscape: horizons, volcanic silhouettes, and quiet stillness. In contrast, the Harman Red frames ignite with intensity, evoking lava, heat, and the raw energy of the earth.
The sequence weaves between these palettes to reflect the dual nature of the islands: silence and eruption, sea and fire, leaving a final impression of their elemental spirit.
Together, these photographs aim to capture not only the beauty and uniqueness of the Aeolian Islands, but also the elemental forces that shape them and the inner states they awaken.
