This week, we’re featuring a lovely Italy travel series from film photographer Katie McClintock captured on 35mm film. Here is more from Katie about her time in Italy…
These images were shot on a backpacking holiday through Venice, Rome, Pisa, Florence, Naples, and Cinque Terre. Prior to this, I had only shot with an SLR a few times, and really only knew how to read my light meter and achieve good exposure. This trip really ignited my love of film photography.
I chose to photograph these scenes as I was attracted to both the beautiful side of Italy and also the rougher, grittier side. My favorite shots from this series are the ones that have people in them. If I was to return to Italy I would love to shoot more people.
Analog cameras and films used: Nikon FM-10 (Find at KEH Camera with code SIWF21 for 5% off or on eBay) | Kodak Ultramax (Find on Amazon), Fuji Superia 400 (Find on Amazon)

The pictures are very good. The one that caught my eye was that of the sketcher – he and his area are in color, and his subject (?) is basically B+W.
The other one was of the motorbike. At first glance, the bluish color of the street made me think it was in Venice! 😂 But then I realized a motorbike would NOT be very practical. 😲 😆 🤣
