Today, we’re featuring a beautiful Iceland travel story from photographer Japneet Dhaliwal. Here is more from Japneet about capturing the vastness of Iceland on film…
I’m attracted to travel destinations by the texture of their earth, and Iceland has always been the top of the list. The black volcanic dirt is like an alien planet. I finally got to make the trip earlier this year, and the thing that struck me most was the overwhelming sense of being bullied by the landscape itself. The towering mountains, the mighty cliffs, it all reminds you that you are tiny, an insignificant speck gazing at the infinite. They’ve dotted the landscape with churches to remind you that you’re still on Earth. I wanted to capture that feeling of smallness, and the sense of always being surrounded by something bigger than you can imagine at every turn.
