Today, we’re featuring a series of images from film photographer Aaron Sawatsky. Aaron captured the beautiful, sea-surrounded area of Kagawa, Japan on 35mm film. Here is more from Aaron about his connection to Kagawa…

All of these photos, except one, were taken in my home prefecture of Kagawa, Japan. After living in Canada for many years, I finally returned to Japan in 2018.

The theme that connects all of these photos is water. Kagawa is mostly surrounded by the Seto Inland Sea, and, for the three years that I lived there, I would often travel to the many islands in the area, take walks along the harbor, and driving along the coasts. Kagawa is quite rural, so I would have access to unobstructed views of nature and the sea.

I still live in Japan, but in a big city now, and going through these photos again was a great way to remember my time in Kagawa.

Analog cameras and films used: Asahi Pentax Spotmatic (Find at KEH Camera or on eBay) | Ilford XP2 Super 400 (Find on Amazon), Kodak Gold 200 (Find on Amazon)
