Today, we’re featuring a beautiful series from actor and artist Brittany Rolfs. Brittany captured the intimate moments of a tourist town during its off season, bringing the quiet side of Cape Cod to life. Here is more from Brittany about her journey with film photography…
I recently reunited with my biological mother. A visual artist herself, she gifted me with a variety of art supplies and accoutrement. Including her mother’s (my grandmother’s) vintage Canon A-1 film camera from the late 1970’s!
It has been thrilling honing these new skills – from the mechanics of the camera itself, to manipulating the development process to achieve different results. Viewing my intimate community through a literal “lens” passed down through generations of creative and dynamic women feels special to me.
This series is a sample of photographs I have taken on ‘The Outer Cape’ – a region of Cape Cod spanning the towns of Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown, MA. An area which experiences a population influx of nearly 1000% in the summer time! I have named this series: The Offseason. It is a representation of the people, places, and things that exist when the tourists do not.
Analog cameras and films used: Canon A-1 (Find at KEH Camera with code SIWF21 for 5% off or on eBay) | Fujifilm Superia XTRA 400 (Find on Amazon), Lomography Metropolis (Find at lomography.com)

I lived on Long Island for most of my life, and most of my photos were taken in the off season. A LOT easier than running around hollering “Everybody get off my beach!” 😁
Oh, and I liked your pictures, too! 👍
