Today, we’re featuring a Japan travel story from film photographer Anastasia Fua. Here is more from Anastasia about exploring Tokyo and Kyoto…
I visited Japan for the first time (planned for five years) in October. I was pretty anxious about the trip because I didn’t want high expectations. I didn’t want to be disappointed. My god, was I wrong.
I remember seeing my first 7-Eleven (just like in animes), riding the Yamanote Line, and being helped by my lovely teenager at Shinagawa Station because we were lost. I remember walking the Shibuya Scramble and not realizing it was it, and I remember looking all around me thinking, “I feel like I have been living under a rock, and I am alive right now.”
So it was quite hard to narrow down the images from my memorable trip to Tokyo and Kyoto. Both cities are so different and unique. My usual aesthetics of shooting minimalism went out the window. Japan was everything, busy and atmospheric.
