Today, we’re sharing a wonderful travel series from photographer Jaden Accord. Jaden traveled to Normandy and photographed his trip on 35mm film. Here is more from Jaden about using film and his time in northern France…
This is a selection of photos I took on my new Olympus XA3 and my trusty Canon AE-1 during a trip to Normandy with my friends.
The trip took place in February of this year, the start of the 2nd year of my analog photography journey. There is still much for me to learn, and this trip helped me to get out of the comfort zone of shooting in and around my own neighborhood in Amsterdam.
We stayed in Houlgate, and visited the cities of Cabourg, Deauville, Trouville-sur-Mer, Honfleur and Etretat, and we visited local cider distilleries and some of the beaches of the Normandy landings.

Jaden, I notice several of your photos exhibit that terrible enemy of film: unwanted stray light. This displays in prints as reddish/yellowish streaks and blotches, sometimes associated with overall reduction in contrast. The cause is usually loading/unloading in strong sunshine instead of shade but can also be deteriorated foam in the back of the camera. If the former it’s usually the first images that suffer, if the latter it usually affects the whole film.
