Today, we’re featuring a beautiful travel story from film photographer Flavia Fontana Giusti. Flavia brought to life the mountains of northwest Italy and captured this magical place on 35mm film. Here is more from Flavia about her connection to the Italian region of Valle d’Aosta…
In 2009, while he was living in Turin, Italy, my father bought a house in an isolated little village in Valle d’Aosta, the roof of Europe. The entire family fell in love at this high-placed corner of Earth immediately, and, over the years, this house became a natural meeting place for us. Every season is special in the mountains, and with all the adventure it offers, there’s never a dull moment, no matter the weather.
This summer I went back again, with my little family this time, and the love multiplied as the kids were mesmerized by the height of the mountains and the fact we were on top of them.
So this photographic collection is my love story to these beautiful mountains: rustic, powerful, enmeshed in history.
And now, as I look back at these images, months after we returned home in the American Midwest, I’m looking forward to many more holidays in the company of these glorious giants!

Really sweet photos and article, but the valle d’Aosta is not a village.
